Library Service Changes as of October 1

Note from the Director, Rita Hamilton:  

As the Library looked at the numbers of requests and checkouts that our customers typically have, we found that the majority of customers have 5 or fewer requests and less than 30 items checked out. These new limits (8 reserves / 30 checked out items) will cut down on the number of staff hours it takes to process items while impacting the fewest people possible. This policy revision was discussed and approved by the Library Board who will be monitoring the feedback we get from library customers. 

There is a feature under "My Account" on the library web page which can help.  With My Lists you can keep a "wish list" of items you want to read but aren't ready to check out or request yet.  If you want to learn more about using My Lists go to http://libcat.scottsdaleaz.gov/screens/help_lists.html


New Item Limits:

  • New checkout limit is 30 items
  • New request limit is 8 items

Overdue Notices:

Second overdue notices will now be delivered to customers in their preferred format (email, telephone or US mail) – previously all were delivered via US Mail.


Bus Passes:

Valley Metro Bus passes will be available at ValleyMetro.org or transit centers.
They will no longer be available at the Libraries.
