Is your child a future Monet, Mondrian, Matisse, Miro?
The library is offering a cool five week Picture Books and Museum Looks program for aesthetically curious 3 to 5 year olds (along with a caregiver). The programs feature a special story time and a kid-friendly look at artwork from the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (SMOCA). The program is five consecutive weeks with three classes at the library (Civic Center or Arabian) and two at SMOCA.
Five week series begins Feb. 23 at Civic Center and Arabian. Program is at 10:30 a.m. at both locations. Only 20 kids per five week program so register now.
The Picture Books and Museum Looks program is supported with funds granted by the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records Agency under the Library Services and Technology Act, which is administered by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

It's a mystery…

Authors Vicki Delany and Deborah Atkinson host a discussion about their books, and their intriguing idea that geography and setting can play an important role in a mystery novel at Hot and Cold Mysteries at the Civic Center library on Mon., March 16 at 10:30 a.m.
Delany has written several books including her latest book Valley of the Lost, which is set in Trafalgar, British Columbia. Set in Hawaii, Atkinson's suspenseful Storm Kayama series mixes both native legends and culture with the spectacular geography of the islands, and her latest title in the series is Pleasing the Dead.
Check out these books or purchase a copy at the program.
