October 2009

And then there were five!

October newsletter

On Nov. 4 we celebrate the grand opening of our new Appaloosa Library, Scottsdale's long awaited fifth location. We've stocked 80,000 new items and 48 new computers in this beautiful light-filled space and created a place to amaze and delight all who enter. The support this community has displayed for Appaloosa and the Scottsdale Library speaks volumes about what the citizens of Scottsdale value – lifelong learning, free access, literacy, youth development, community – to name a few. I'm proud to serve you and to present the new Appaloosa Library. Please come join us in celebrating this wonderful Scottsdale accomplishment!

That's some fine fiddlin'

Bluegrass musician Stephanie Bettman visits the Scottsdale Public Library on Sun., Nov. 1. The entire family will enjoy this music that is "new and catchy; an engaging mixture of folk, roots, bluegrass and jazz with memorable lyrics and killer instrumentation." Joined by masterful multi-instrumentalist Luke Halpin, the two of them will raise the roof with their soaring harmonies and foot tapping fiddles. We promise you will leave with a smile on your face!
